Did I speak too soon?

Hmmmmm did I speak too soon in the post a couple of days ago? I was writing a cheque (check) at the kitchen bench (counter) and a little person was practicing his Australian cockatoo noises in the playpen. The noises got more animated over a 10 second period and I turned around to see this! I guess the floor of the playpen needs to be lowered about now!

Busy days!

Here we are looking a bit tired after a day out in the stroller! The next-door neighbours are both teachers and so now they are off work until early September for the school holidays so they have been coming with us on our walks each day. Cooper gets to see his friend Isabella and now they are getting to recognise each other and get quite excited to see each other. This day was a hot one and very tiring for everyone....

.... and later in the evening, he was still tired - too tired to even play with his new remote that his Daddy gave him (a real one with no batteries in it!!!). He is able to point it towards the TV but looks very suspiciously at Jamie when the channel doesn't change!

New Playpen

Here is CJ in his new playpen. I had been concerned about how to manage things once he was sitting up (as he does now) and when he starts walking given that he wouldnt be (isn't!) all that stable and I wasn't sure how to prevent him from hitting his head on the marble floor. When I was ordering the 'Jolly Jumper' from babyride.com I did a search for 'playpens with wheels' and came up with this on their site! He seems to love it and it's big enough for him to roam around in without feeling like he's in a cage (not that he knows, but I didn't want it to look like it!). Once he stands by himself, the floor lowers right down but for now it's cool that he can be up relatively high.

CJ this morning

This morning Cooper was looking very cool & summer-y in his Pumpkin Patch animal outfit and seeing as I am having a 24hr marathon of blogging and kodak-gallerying, I made Jamie take a pic of him to show you!

Belgian Biscuits

I have made several batches of Belgian Biscuits lately which seem to have been a bit of a hit with people here in the USA (and in England too - we took some to Jac & Hugh as they are one of Jac's faves!) eg Scott the Builder dropped by recently and said "do you still have any of them nice cookies with the pink frosting?" I had been meaning to make them for quite a while as Jamie hadn't had them before but when we were at Cafe on Kohi in Auckland, he managed to sample a few of them and got hooked! They did tell us they would be happy to post them to us on a regular basis (apparently they have a few people overseas they send things to!), but at $4 a biscuit plus postage - I don't think so!! I bought some 'mixed spice' in Auckland to bring back here as I cant find it in the supermarket here, however here is the recipe online which seems to be from an American website.
