Construction Commences
Today the construction project for the garage/home extension started (see picture in the posting further down). Not quite the ground- breaking (hopefully later this week), but taking down three trees to make room for said project. Here is CJ
getting into the happenings sitting on the driveway and then on a pile of logs that had just been cut....

And here you can see Scott (the builder who can do anything!) up in the biggest tree. The guy who was meant to take the trees down was taking his time so they couldnt wait any longer! The first two were simple - cut the wedge and drop them down. Cooper learned to wave his arm and say 'bang' when I asked him 'what happened to the big tree?!! His ladder is 32 feet and at one point he was sitting up in the highest bough (the 'Y' shape to just to the right of centre nearest the top) with his chainsaw. Then Josh tied ropes from each branch to Matts truck and then as Scott sawed through the branch, Matt reversed the truck. I was hoping we might damage the fence and then claim insurance, but Scott pointed out it would be on his insurance, hence the great care he was taking!! It's not an illusion, he is way, way higher than the roof of Amy & Brad's house! As far as the trees go, they were all not attractive ones; the big one here in the picture had lots of rotten bits. We have kept the nice maple and the others on the front half of the section (lot).
